How in the world can Republicans justify inaction? How can they sit by and watch genocide, after which the US will inevitably become engulfed in a far broader, longer, more expensive world war? What are they thinking?

Unfortunately, the Republicans don’t care if Ukraine turns red. They probably want to isolate the US or something.
Why haven’t they transitioned to a war economy, they know they can’t rely on the USA for everything so now they are trying to be bsf with Germany to get aid.
