As a queer person, I am weirdly emotional about this, but not the way you might think.
This motherfucker pushed his culture war bullshit so hard, and really propelled it to the forefront of conservative politics. The groomer slander that he promoted has set LGBT rights back by decades. I have friends who literally moved to a new state to get away from DeSantis-inspired culture war laws going on in their state.
The damage he did is so profound, and it will be a long time before we recover. And while I’m thrilled to see him go, I’m so fucking angry that he did all of this for nothing.
What kind of a horrible little fucking sociopath do you have to be to hurt millions of people as a political stunt? We’re going to have to waste so much time and energy fighting these new laws to get our rights back all across the country because of this little weasel, and he did it for nothing. It’s all so goddamn meaningless.
