Hey all. Looking for any or all information all you wonderful redditors can provide. My grandpa pulled a ton of documents, and one of those is an 1800’s German passport from when my family’s “ancestors” emigrated from Germany to USA. Unfortunately none of us speak or can read German, so hopefully there’s someone here who can assist?

We did some basic Google translating, but the full page scan wasn’t working well and some of the cursive script is hard to make out letters/etc.

If anyone can provide more information on passports of this era, or even a full translation, I would be forever in your debt. All we can make out is this is a “travel pass”/passport issued by the “Grand Duchy of Oldenburg”

  1. Maybe try r/kurrent for that one? They do such old-timey german handwritten stuff and can help you probably better than r/german. Just a suggestion tho.
