Step one – don’t use a credit card or even have one if you aren’t going to pay it off monthly.
I learned this lesson the hard way as a young man that had 8k on one and I said never again.
1. Landed a *much* better paying job.
2. Lucked into an easy side hustle
3. Dual Income, one kid and the kid wasn’t in college yet.
4. Lived like absolute shit.
This was post 2008 crash when a pair of family illnesses had hit shortly before that. Good ****ing times.
Basically a constellation of lucky happenstances coupled with my ability to stop living life for 4 years or so.
