  1. Evaluating working practices should always be outcomes focussed. If a council doing a 4 day week trial can demonstrate with data that they are maintaining service standards, it shouldn’t be at all controversial.

  2. The argument for Capitalism over Communism (made by Capitalists) is that only with the innovation provided by Capitalism can we harness new technology and working practices to make our lives easier/ work less/ etc. The press and others need to start calling this anti-4 day week nonsense out on the Conservative’s own terms.

  3. Gove is an authoritarian slave-driver who should shut up and piss off. 4-day week works fine.

Source: I live in Cambs. Our rubbish collections are working better than ever with a 4-day week rather than 5 – because we don’t have to change collection dates for Bank Holiday Mondays.

  4. This should give a pretty clear picture that this is about spite. If the data showed that a four-day week provided the same or better results then it would be beneficial to all involved. They want to kneecap the whole thing in it’s infancy to prove a point.

  5. Ministers shitting themselves. All they care about is keeping the right to choose out of working class hands.

  6. 80% of zero work is still zero tbf, I’m not sure anyone will notice the difference 🎅

  7. Maybe ministers should actually try working for 4 days a week in the one job they do…the one paid for by the taxpayer.

….far too busy doing directorships, spots on imacelebritybakeoffgetmebritainsgotnotalent and guest appearances at right wing conferences in other countries .

  8. Cries in nhs… I hope they adopt a 4 day week for me too…

  9. Inevitable. And further proof that society will never progress until we get rid of those who believe the world of work is a moral issue.

  10. Four day weeks work well if managed correctly i.e. not everyone has the same day off, so 80% are in every day working more efficiently. With each person being more efficient as they have rested.
Also less people booking single days / throwing a sicky if they have a tradesman calling or other appointments. Better for the employer better for the employees.
The MPs don’t live in the real world, most people can’t have a sleep at work.
