These Russia-hiring-mercenary stories have been around since the war started.
They never pan out. You have to hire; train; fly into a war zone.
There’s a total language barrier. No interest in what the war is about.
Cold and topography totally different from where the merenaries are from.
The death rate is going to be near 100% and word gets back to whatever country, and that’s the end of recruiting in whatever place.
Perfect choice for winter.

African Mercenaries? Why leave the continent when you can rain terror and mayhem down on your own people/tribes, and reap the spoils. And it’s never cold.

Think on this:
Need to train them to understand Russian and read Cyrillic.
Need to acclimate these people to that environment.
Need to train them to interoperate alongside Russian Mechanized doctrines, and use Russian equipment.
I don’t think Russia is going to go through with the 6-9 months this would take and just send them as soon as they walk in the door. Go through the logistics to ship these guys over just for them to go forward and get mowed down en masse, but fuck it, I guess the Russian strategy is to overwhelm the Ukrainians with enough corpses till their barrels clog or run dry.
Honestly, I see them just embedding a couple of Russians per platoon for command-and-control purposes to herd these cats into combat. As in an NCO/Officer, and a communications/forward fire control specialist.
What’s the advantage? Easier identification? Hey guys… those black guys, yeah, they’re on our team.
Honestly, I am surprised that Russia is not leveraging its Chechnyan/Dagestani population and using them to mass recruit/shanghai all the Middle Eastern and North African refugees/migrant workers. It would be one hell of a bastard move by Putin to do something like promise a chunk of Western Ukraine to the Palestinians as a homeland if they would just help him win it and mass migrate. A chunk of those would then bleed over into the EU and cause some instability.
I’m trying not to make light of the situation: Russia is getting more bodies recruited than Ukraine, kill ratio actual/progaganda aside. This is a shitty development.

One of the biggest problems with hiring African mercenaries to fight in Ukraine is the winter cold. I’ve known quite a few Africans that have migrated to England and they have suffered with our winters. I specifically asked them how they coped with our winters and they all said they found it extremely cold, having to wrap up really well and even then they were chilled to the bone. This is in London where it rarely gets below 0°c. Many will still be wearing woolly jumpers in the middle of our summer. Now, take those same guys and put them lying in a trench for weeks, in a Ukrainian winter that is much, much colder and expect them to function as an effective fighting force. I would say they would struggle to fight with many easily succumbing to cold related illnesses, hypothermia and frostbite.
