Children meet their care home pen pals for Christmas

Ready one 2 3 jez Christmas elves have come to spread some festive cheer at this care home in Nottingham these children attend a local primary school and for the past couple of years they’ve been writing to Residents forming friendships through letters this is 10-year-old Mia and her

PM pal Mavis tell me about the things that you found out about each other that you’ve got in common uh we both like coloring uh we both like dog the kids have also learned about their elderly friends childhoods I just really enjoy like seeing how they do like their

Life things and how it’s different to ours now what kind of things well they would like play all all the different games and like they wouldn’t have like devices like ours now but they would still find fun things to do when they were younger yeah the youngsters visit

The home once a school term and it’s a joy for the residents it’s uplifting isn’t it because they talk and you can hold a conversation with them there’s a lot of the people here can’t they hold a conversation but then they forgot what you said many here have dementia staff

Say they benefit hugely from these visits and of course the gains a red card seven of but there have been difficult moments for the children yeah we have to have those little chitchat about circle of life and residents getting ill and and passing so yeah we

Have had a few a few tear and a bit upset cuz they build that relationship and you know they’re right to each other but it’s it’s a good conversation to have it’s part of life isn’t it and for PM Pal’s young and old it’s a rewarding relationship it makes me feel like

Really happy and like I like breing lessers to them so they’re happy cuz some of them might not have people to talk to anymore like children or anything so it makes me feel really good that they have someone to like sort of talk to over a letter thanks for having us

Bye even Generations apart friendships can still flourish Becky cotol Sky News Nottingham

  1. इससे अच्छी बात हो नहीं सकती बहुत बढ़िया ऐसी बातचीत होती रहे यही कामना है ईश्वर से

  2. It's pretty impossible to form a normal friendship with dementia patients in a care home. I'm just about to set of to one now. I know lots about some of the residents past history but for most of them every time I see them is like the first time and they've forgot everything about me and have no idea who I am.
