These were a nice idea in theory but I don’t think a *single* person used this after they stepped out of school for the last time.
I was obsessed with going to Partners the stationers. I’d spend all my 7 year old pocket money in the Retford branch
When we first got them our teachers made out like it was vital we keep them throughout our life, as if a prospective employer would march you off the premises if you turned up at an interview without it!
“You clearly have no qualifications, and quite possibly do not exist, BEGONE!”
Mine is stashed away in a box in the loft, but just for nostalgia. It’s not been updated since I left college in the mid-1990s.
Core memory unlocked.
Never once has mine ever been used. They placed such a strong emphasis on it being key for future employment.
Wow, I’d forgotten I had one of these. As others have said, the importance of keeping it safe and using it for interviews was strong, and I never needed it!
I’ve still got mine buried somewhere. I worked hard for those merits and the poetry prize.
Strangely I love mine. Although I never got it out once at a job interview
I’m 40 and my mum supposedly still has mine knocking around somewhere. Never needed it once, and if I’m honest at this point I guess my exam results. I know how many of each grade I got just not necessarily what subjects they apply to.
Whoever got the contract to make those folders in the 90s thought it was a great idea……which was probably the only real reason NROA’s existed as they were used for nothing else. some government officers friends binder company made bank.
i’ve never even had to show my certificate for my degree let alone this
What the hell have you been taking into interviews over the last twenty years if not this? I can only assume you’ve been unemployed for all that time.
Bless her cotton socks 😅
Still got mine. Do not think it will help me get a job. Unless it’s with the national museum!!!
Oh god this brings back memories. My mum was like remember to take it to your interview…like mum “I have fucking D’s and E’s I don’t think this will help.”
Lying helped more than this…
I still believe there is a potential employer out there that will be impressed by my 20m swimming certificate.
A complete waste of time like wasting my time at school for all those years 🙄 😒 🤦🤦🤬🤬🤬
I also kept my swimming trunks with my life-saving badges in case they needed me to save a brick in my p.js
When did they stop making these?
I went to a restaurant recently that used these as their menu covers.
I’m 44 and needed this for the first time this year. I have new job that needed proof of my GCSE results for apprenticeships. If I didn’t have this squirrelled under my bed I would have had to either pay for replacement certificates or have to re take my GCSE Maths and English. I now have all my necessary certificates in it in case I need it in the future.
I genuinely took mine to a job interview in 2016 for a position as a special needs teaching assistant. I got the job but I think they just found it amusing
Tell us what you found inside!
I put my Year 6 Gold Star Award in mine.
Nice blast from the past, cheers!
I still have mine. It’s got my exam certificates in it. ‘Cos sometimes new employers need to see my grade C certificate for maths that I got over 20 years ago.
