Making problems for political refugees from Hong Kong but at the same time allowing people to claim asylum arriving from France having travelled through other safe countries !?! Something not quite adding up is it.
We just can’t accommodate more, the system is on overdrive. The NHS is crumbling, our schools can’t cope, we don’t have dentists…this country was built for a far smaller population.
Why the fuck are we just throwing our doors open to Hong kongers? There’s a literal fuck ton in the Reading area. It’s already unaffordable as fuck round here, and now we have a whole bunch of rich people from Hong Kong arriving competing for everything.
I walk around and hear so much Cantonese, it’s kind of getting ridiculous.
I’m sure they’re lovely etc, but it’s a bit too much.
Edit: I like immigration, but I dislike very well off people coming and throwing their considerable financial heft into an already very stuffed part of South East England.
Would rather have immigrants from Hong Kong than some more lawless parts of the planet
A new-build housing estate has a lot of Hong Kong Chinese buying houses.
You’d think given the rhetoric the Sunak regime has towards China making the place sound like the worst place on Earth they’d just automatically approve any applications
