I’m attempting to find out the birthplace of my great grandparents, any idea where this may be? My limited google searches didn’t help, I have my suspensions they were from Gyor, but can’t confirm this anywhere.
I have zero clue, but right now i drinking in Győr. Cheers to your grandparents.
Julius name is Gyula in hungarian, Yuhasz is Juhász, Jeare and maybe Győr
Győr is probably the right answer, and his name in hungarian would be: Juhász Gyula
Juhász Gyula, Győr. A real clue. Why could not the names be written properly? Why did they change them? So silly.
Considering how the first&last name is written versus pronounced, or how an American may write phonetically, I’ll throw in my guess for the city being Zirc instead of Győr that many have answered
Edit: you can even see there is a dot at letter C in Jearc like the writer was hesitating/expecting another letter. If it was Győr i believe he wouldn’t have put a C, but if it’s Zirc (pronounced smthg like zearts) i can imagine Mr Juhasz was trying to spell out the name of the city to the writer, ending oddly with a C
