  1. Because moms of 2 children need SUVs to… drive through a city.

  2. It seems here in the UK that the worst drivers have the most dangerous vehicles. Need to increase sentences for dangerous driving.

  3. Small cars cost the same as a SUV while feeling less sturdy and spacious. Of course everyone is buying the SUVs.

  4. The definition of SUV is too broad to have a practical discussion about this.

The WV Golf (hatchback) and the WV T-Roc (SUV) are the same car, with the T-Roc having a slightly different shape

  5. “Here you have an electric car, which is good for the climate (assuming it isn’t using coal power). It’s an SUV with horrible aerodynamics, super heavy, destroys the road even faster, and kills any pedestrian when driving above 15km/h”

    Brilliant. /s

  6. Small SUVs are basically oversized, lifted hatchbacks but with a better access to the rear seat, without banding down, that’s why they are so popular with moms.

  7. I hate suvs so much bruh. People dropping their children off at schools in these tanks are blocking entire streets in my city.

  8. I love hatchbacks and stationwagons. SUVs are ugly and big.
But given that the population is aging, it can be understood, as SUVs are easier to enter/exit and provide better road overview. Plus their height makes it easier to hide batteries.

  9. Because we live in a capitalist consumerist society where they will brainwash you with ads so you buy the new overpriced shit ™️.

  10. Looks like the car industry is winning the battle of making it seem everyone needs an SUV. 🤦

  11. I mean, I’m probably not a sample size alone, but almost every time I’ve had a bad accident, it was with a SUV. Say 10 out of 12 this year. 11 and 12 were a van and a pedestrian.

To define bad, something serious enough I’ve had to be brought home by another way than the bike I was using, because of shock or concussion.

And 8 times they fled, too.

  12. Yeah keep importing that shit from the US.

    Fucking idiots

  13. We need a new distinction for SUVs though. Most European SUVs are just slightly bulkier hatchbacks and not the American monsters that people imagine when they hear SUV

  14. The bigger car, the smaller…

    Especially in already cramped cities.

  15. And there is a special place in hell for people who import US trucks to the EU. These things are insanely big and I feel less safe on the road because of it. And those drivers look like insecure losers when navigating through the city.

If you really need a pick-up truck for whatever in the countryside, buy a smaller Toyota with more way more space in the trunk.

  16. At least in Germany, there are definitely not as many sedans as hatchbacks

  17. I especially liked that one Ford ad where the justification for the “city SUV” was driving through a construction site (since they are so good at offroading) to reach a parking spot closer to the entrance.

The ad basically justified SUVs with enabling people to commit crimes and be assholes for their personal and negligible gain. And the best part is, even this proclaimed offroad capability of the Ford Ecosport or whatever it was is basically non-existent. It’s a complete joke.

  18. I hate those things they call SUVs. They’re hatchbacks made higher, their aerodynamics suck, they’re heavier and therefore wear down roads faster and are more dangerous, and on top of it all FUCK THEIR HEADLIGHTS! Especially because most people adjust them so they shine as far away as possible. Driving a regular hatchback you get blinded all the time. Holy shit, that’s annoying.

  19. Fuck SUVs. Big, ungainly, hunks of shite that pollute more, use up more space, kill more people, and provide even better profit margins for our corporate overlords since they can sell them for more. And idiots buy them… : )

  20. If I ever was indignify myself by getting a car, it would be an SUV. I’m almost 2 meters tall, so fuck anything less.

  21. Well I just wanted a car with a bigger ground clearance and better suspension to minimise the nuisance of potholes and the local terrible infrastructure.

On paper it’s SUV but it’s more of a crossover IRL, just a taller and a bit wide hatchback.

  22. … this needs to stop. On one hand, we are doing BS “green” politics, that is making small cars (e.g. toyota aygo) unprofitable for the manufacturer, or very expensive, but on the other hand people are buying SUVs left and right like there is no tomorrow.

My small car, which I drive once a week emits a fraction of emissions of these behemoths, but somehow there is no politician pushing for retaining the gasoline-powered small cars. Even though for small cars used once in a while, electrification makes no sense…
