Amazon Prime Video will start showing ads on January 29th unless you’re willing to pony up an extra fee each month.

  1. This was always their long time plan.

I’m unimpressed with Prime Video’s offerings lately so it’s not likely I’ll be seeing many of their commercials.

  2. Ohhh… there once was a ship that put to sea

The name of the ship was the Billy O’ Tea

The winds blew up, her bow dipped down

Oh blow, my bully boys, blow (huh)

  3. And that will be enough to push me over the edge to cancel Amazon Prime.

  4. They already have ads for their programming before the movie or show starts. We’re almost back to cable TV again

  5. Only use video because we pay for the shipping. Rarely find anything interesting

  6. The prime experience has already been degraded so much. There used to be sections right at the top for “included with Prime” or “free to me” or something along those lines, where you can see the stuff you can watch free with prime. Now it seems like 90% of the stuff shown to me is purchasable content mixed in with a bit of free stuff. Has all the prime stuff just moved to Freevee? I don’t even know what freevee is but that seems to be getting pushed hard now.

  7. I’m just going to go back to stealing everything.

    One monthly fee: Nord VPN.

  8. Cheaper to have a Plex and Bitport subscription.

  9. Why? Jeff Bezos doesn’t even need that extra cash

  10. How every streaming service should work:

1: 100% Free, with some ads
    2: paid subscription, no ads.
    3: no more “renting”.

  11. Definitely would drop it if it weren’t part of Prime. Not worth $3. Wish they would separate it from Prime shipping entirely.

  12. Nah, video content is garbage. Only use it because it comes with the Prime shipping. I’m willing to pay for shipping in order to not see ads
