YoY, inflation was 3.1%, making the 3.1% increase a wash.
Holiday gifts are so ingrained in our culture right now that as long as people are able to borrow on a credit card or take from their 401k we will continue to see this trend. That isn’t to say this won’t have further ripples down the road, but it would take large unemployment to really impact holiday spending
Told you…your Christmas gifts 🎁 will ‘force’ far right extremists republikans to whine about higher interest rates…I mean…just think about the ‘poor banks’ and their predatory profits and thieving fees…..🤭
Those wars aren’t cheap so….but..but…it’s the printing and..and…🙃
I spent a $hit ton this holiday. Not even totally upset about it, but it does feel more spendy than usual. It is what it is.
At least today is my final day of spending in the spirit of the holidays. Dinner at The habit for myself and my 2 nieces, then some ice creams after. $80 for what feels like it shoulda been $50ish not long ago.
Instant noodles for the rest ’23 and no going out for NYE will make up for it.
I feel like spent a small fortune and bought less than usual.

As someone who is heavily invested on [VTSAX](https://investor.vanguard.com/investment-products/mutual-funds/profile/vtsax), all I can say is: Keep those wallets open and those credit card balances high. Your compulsive consumption is my gain.
Another doom and gloom thread.
