Boxing Day: How bargain seekers across the country spent the day
On the second day of Christmas retailers gave to us sales but here in Nottingham the consensus was that the discounts this year have been pretty disappointing I do it every year um I’m always the first in time trying to get the bargains but yeah today’s just not really gone
That well half the stuff I bought isn’t even on sale so it just feels like a normal day of shopping many had held their spending until these sales hoping for a good deal as the cost of living continued to cause pain Shoppers are expected to spend 4.7 billion during these post Christmas
Sales the average person will Fork out over 250 a big increase on 2020 when Boxing Day bargain Seekers spent about £60 for smaller independent retailers it can be hard to compete when it comes to discounts one clothes shop told me they simply can’t afford to lower any
Prices and many of the big brands closed their stores today leaving customers to go online next and John Lewis and M&S are all closed and I remember when I would go when I was younger with my parents they would always be open and they would be the first shops who would
Go to were you surprised to see the M&S is short today yes I was but in a way it’s quite nice for the staff to have another day off on boxing day the car park of this Shopping Center in Bristol was unseasonably quiet today as people chose to browse from home
But selfridges on Oxford Street was popular at opening time and at Brent Cross in London plenty came to try and bag a bargain I think on boxing day it’s whatever is yellow people will buy I think you could put a toilet roll with a sales sticker on it and people will buy
It at this point and it’s just the mindset when you walk into the shop on a boxing day that anything is half price let’s buy it retailers are facing lower profits than before the pandemic and it seems that’s showing in the size of their price drops but as many customers
Continue to tighten their purse strings they say the brands are going to have to do better to tempt them to spend Becky cotell Sky News noting
High street retailers are hoping the Boxing Day sales will help deliver a better end to the year and although many flocked to flagship stores – initial reports suggested shops were quieter than expected.
Sky’s Becky Cotterill reports.

Do the bargain shoppers condemn Hamas?
I feel sorry for the shop staff.
👃All "dropping a sprout" in the shops👃🤮🛍
Wow was it the same as last boxing day and the last 60 before that by any chance .Guess what on Christmas day lots of people had turkey for dinner
It’s a bit embarrassing for Sky News how they block comments on topics they don’t want to hear what the public think.
The most Boring boxing day ever felt grim to be honest never felt so grim like it before
