There was a post about the topic recently here, and as I was curious about such things for a long time, I wonder about your opinion on how to prevent it personally and on a more communal, or even nationwide scale.

Cultures and societies, where so many people see this as the best choice have similarities (strive for greatness without strong humanistic or family values).
Possible solutions as I see it.
– More gatherings and dialogue about ethics, spirituality, philosophy (especially important for males).
– Strong family values.
– Elder communities of both sexes: male elders, female elders (they bring a different type of wisdom).

For women, it seems, that well-defined male and female roles are important – consistently low levels in Latin America as well as Muslim cultures.
What’s your take?

  1. Do you understand that reasons for suicide are usually very complicated. Have you read data as to why people commit suicide in different countries/regions?

Have it crossed your mind that reason for low suicide rates in LA and S Africa and Arabian peninsula is either shame or high religiosity? First of all if I kill myself it will bring shame to my family so I mustn’t and I will go to Hell if I do so.

Russia is very pro strong family values and still has one of the highest rates of female suicides.

  2. Im just triggered a step below red is labeled by green. More related to the topic tho, suicide is irrational behavior. Its very individual and i don’t think there is a simple solution to it. To have better relations in your family is a deal breaker for sure, but if your family members are dicks, you can’t really do anything about it. You kinda have to learn how to live with it. So theoretically i agree, but achieving it nationwide seems like a huge ass stretch
