I wish this war were over! 😒 All this senseless loss of life and destruction of a beautiful country and amazing people. Both Ukrainian and Russian lives matter. It’s ridiculous what the Russian Government and its war machine is doing. I wish the West would hurry up and send more equipment. Putin isn’t going to stop until he achieves his desired successes and we stand idly by sending measily support. I hope Ukraine has the manpower and the U.S/Europe get off its ass soon.
Surely breaches of International Crime and commitment of War Crimes demands immediate action by UN, EU & NATO. How can any of these organisations sit idly by while Putin becomes increasingly emboldened and suffering no consequences.
There’s now a rumour actively discussed in Ukrainian Twitter since this video surfaced that this is part of a bigger, officially sanctioned campaign. Like, Kremlin-sanctioned. Apparently, there are far more undocumented cases like this over the past few weeks.
Even subjectively, we’ve seen two of these videos over the past few weeks, while there were just a few over the previous 12 months. Not a complete pattern yet, but it’s starting to look like one.
It might make sense in twisted Russian logic. The only way they can win is through attrition. They don’t give a fuck about international law, as nobody is willing to really enforce it against Russia. They also have a lot more bodies. Bodies too complaisant to avoid the meat grinder.
The other circumstantial evidence is that Russians completely refuse prisoner exchanges for months now. No explanation.
They might be feeling the high from the drying up support for Ukraine and want to use any opportunity to get an edge.
Obviously, this can just be a sign of the further deteriorating Russian morals and overall state of their moral degradation. It’s Russia, so nothing new there.
So yeah, don’t read too much into this, just an assumption that I saw on Twitter from people fighting this war.
