  1. Esbjerg in DK and Rotterdam in NL. Anywhere else is probably a waste of time and the ferry will still be 12-18 hours each way from Edinburgh. Any other destinations already have direct flights cheaper than foot passenger with bed/cabin on a ferry costs.

Also Stavanger, Aberdeen, Esbjerg, Great Yarmouth and Den Header are all wind farm/oil& gas industry hubs so would make sense to perhaps link them not fife!

  2. Sounds great on paper but unless it is heavily subsidised it is unlikely to work. Just have a look at how much it costs for a ferry ticket to Europe from Newcastle. Yes it would be very convenient to hop on the ferry in Scotland in the evening and wake up in Europe in the morning but I’m not sure how many people will pay the £1000 that it’s likely going to cost (two people and a car / camper).

  3. Can Neale and the rest of his buddies in Alba do anything besides piss and moan at the ministries and concern troll about the SNP not wanting to work with them? Ferry links to Europe could be a decent call but let’s be real about why Alba made this press release. They so frequently make proposals that would be difficult, disadvantageous or both for the SNP and then get smug when the response is less than positive.

  4. After the Ferguson disaster I’d have thought the Scottish government stays 500 miles away from anything ferry related. But like aforementioned disaster it’s inherently political, they really believe having a ferry will make Scots ‘feel more European’ and make more people to vote for Independence.
