This has caused arguments in the household. We had 5 seconds to come up with three answers. The answers were suitcase, seat belt and seat tray. The argument is that the last 2 items are provided by the airline and should not be counted and it should be items the passanger needs to bring with them because otherwise we can go as far as we need a seat, aeroplane, runway, wheels etc. But they are claiming that regardless, they are still essential items needed by the passenger. What do you think?

Ticket, luggage, passport.
Fleshlight if travelling solo.
Snacks.
Earplugs.
Passport and boarding pass are 1 and 2 surely.
Condom, Herring, Baseball
Yup… Gotta be stuff the Passenger brings otherwise it gets daft… Boarding Pass, Passport… I’d even go so far as to say your first example, suitcase, wasn’t *essential*
Drugs up pooper
No, I’m with you mate. Airline should provide a seatbelt.
I mean, if you got into a crash, no airline would say “well, you should have brought a seatbelt with you, then you’d be less mangled!”
…well, maybe Ryanair…
Money, passport and ticket has to be the top three.
Other stuff that is forgotten can be bought.
Oxygen, pressure and a hot beverage.
Passport, boarding pass, clothes.
Tickets! money! passport!
Jennifer Saunders answered that for you a long time ago
Tickets & boarding pass on phone… so phone, luggage & passport.
Plane, engines, seats.
If there were an article titled “essential items for air travel” and it listen things such as passport and ticket it would be pretty boring. I would expect things more like neck pillow, headphones, things to make flying more comfortable.
The prompt only says they’re essential for the passenger, nothing about who brings them or owns them.
Food, water and shelter.
They always ask if you’ve got any guns, drugs, or explosives, so it’s got to be that.
I always forget to take them.
Photo ID, Ticket, Tolerance for my fellow travellers as we all cram in like sardines.
Identification. Boarding pass. Some form of payment, so you can buy clothes in duty free and get yourself a drink.
Edit: I’m not sure if you’d get as far as duty free without being arrested for having no clothes on. Maybe you can make do without money but then you’ll be stuck when you arrive.
ID or passport, wet wipes, deodorant. I’m not sure if a mobile counts but it helps if needing a decent taxi or minicab. If arriving for a business meeting I’d say mouthwash was 100% required.
All in the context I think, no “right answer” here.
Clothes, Footwear, Passport!
All these people giving answers on here with naked passengers.
Arriving early, lounge, leg space
Portable charger, neck pillow and book was my answer
Just to add more fuel to the fire, I’d say seat belt and seat tray are in fact *part* of the seat and shouldn’t be considered individual items anyway.
Should be things the passanger brings but regardless you could absolutely fly in an aeroplane without a seatbelt and a seat tray, they’re not essential
A seat tray is not essential.
Not even available on some planes.
Munchies, Audiobook and a parachute, gotta do something on the way down.
Spectacles, testicles, wallet and watch (any 3 of the above)
I had this with:
3 places to go on a date
One of my answers was the park 😂 pressure got to me.
Everyone laughed obviously and said I didn’t get a point. But thinking about it. If you take someone for a picnic date , take them to a park with a big field. In the summer it’s perfect.
Thoughts??
They are technically correct, the best kind of correct
clothes shoes ticket
A bomb, a second bomb, and a third, backup bomb.
Not all planes have seat trays and you can also travel without a suitcase if you only have hand baggage. Zero out of 3
Shoes trousers passport
Seatbelts and seat tray absolutely should not count. They are essential items for the airline not the passenger.
A good indicator of the difference is whose responsibility is it to provide it and who is to blame if it’s missing.
If a passenger turns up without a passport thats their problem and therefore an essential item for a passenger.
If a passenger turns up and theres no seat belt, thats the airlines problem and they are the ones who will be legally in trouble therefore its an essential item for an airline.
