Taking the fucking piss as ever… and none of the right wing press will ever call out this bunch of “benefit scroungers”
Who else gets a wage of over £80K and yet still gets taxpayer subsidised meals while claiming that people on benefits and those being disabled are the reason people are poor… fucking wankers laughing over their cheap, good quality meals while refusing to even feed starving school kids anything
Notice that the media didn’t bother to mention their subsidised meals when the Tories voted unanimously to **not feed** hungry school kids. These lot are so fucked up and evil it’s untrue, yet the media keeps them voted in every time because they love their own wealthy and power
> Subsidised meals for pampered MPs are getting even cheaper – while ordinary folk face soaring food bills.
> In 2016 chargrilled rib-eye steak and chips at the House of Commons’ Adjournment restaurant cost a modest £12.50.
> But the meal – including roasted shallots, mushrooms and grilled tomato – is now priced 10% lower at £11.26.
> Soup of the day was £3.75 in 2016 but is now £3.35.
> A cappuccino is £1.63, down 7p, while mineral water has been down from £2.05 to £1.35.
> A fruit juice is down from £1.80 to £1.67. At Bellamy’s self-service restaurant, apple and cinnamon crumble with custard or cream has been cut from £1.05 in 2016 to 98p.
> It means a three-course meal with drinks that cost £21.05 in 2016 is now just £18.57.
> MPs, paid £81,932, are set for a £2,000 rise in April – yet benefit from taxpayer-subsidised meals.
> Last year, when Covid hit takings, it cost taxpayers £9.1million. In 2019-20 the figure was £4.5million. And while some prices have increased, they are far still lower than in many eateries outside Westminster.
I just wish we could scale all their bills up to the nations median. Just so they can actually see how brutal it can be.
They’d chuck the booze and coke for sure.
Do they do subsidised coke?
I mean the drink….of course.
Shit like this just further validates why I pay no attention to any of them and just do as I please.
Well yeah, you don’t vote Tory to help the poor, you vote Tory to bootlick the rich until you hopefully join their ranks from the scraps they let you suck off the floor.
Why on earth is anybody there getting subsidised meals on taxpayers money? Nurses, teachers and police officers don’t, so why do they?
Isn’t it that the catering is run in-house and not for profit, rather than what you’d think of as traditional subsidised? As far as I understand it’s run more like a series of works canteens and mostly available to all 15,000 pass holders.
Some firms even offer their own workers free tea and coffee *gasp*
Always remember the food parcels Tory MPs felt could feed a child adequately for an entire week:
I’ll bet you they’re not eating beans on toast either.
Welcome to the new Gilded Age! Just without the wage increases…
Meanwhile working on call shifts in a covid ravaged hospital I can only get an greasy shit in the canteen which is overpriced or overpriced subway or costa until 8pm. I take my own food but given the amount of hours it would be nice to have a healthy, reasonably priced hot meal I didn’t have to bring and prepare for myself.
Gravy train needs to end for the MPs.
80k a year + expenses + second homes + subsidised meals and more and more and more and more.
The disparity is out of hand.
Whatever people think of George Galloway, his refusing to eat at the tax-payer’s expense always impressed me.
