Senator Rand Paul said we should remove the IRS and implement a flat tax instead. Would you support this plan?

Nope
Definitely not.
Randy’s strategy here is demonizing already hated beauracracy to institute reactionary, regressive tax policy.
Of all the tax reforms I would suggest, a flat income tax is the last one 👎
No. Not even at all. Our leaders have failed the American people, both political and economic.
I hear this proposal all the time.. it’s such a pander.. the reality is that it wouldn’t help either political party.
No
**NO.**
No.
All you fucking commies on here jerking off to high taxes are disgusting. The government steals far too much money right now. 5% flat tax makes sense
It’s a regressive tax policy and will only hurt the poor and middle class.
Rand Paul looks like an idiot and talks like an idiot. But don’t let that fool you. He really is an idiot.
God no. It would be devastating to the economy. Huge tax cut for the 1%, massive tax raise for all of us. Progressive taxation (e.g. higher taxes for the rich) exists for a reason.
A flat tax burdens the poor, and gives money to the wealthy.
Of course he’s for it, he’s basically slime.
Yes, IF you eliminate deductions, deferrals, credits, and tax corporations on income instead of profit. I’ll happily pay my 10% or whatever if I know AT&T and Jeff Bezos are paying theirs too.
No. Flat taxes are just another way for the wealthy to dump the burden on the working poor.
The wealthy have figured out how to pay themselves without it being counted as income. So this would not change much, as far as taxing the wealthy are concerned.
No.
Hell no. Tax the rich.
Fuck NO. This will only benefit the 1% 😂
No
How would he ensure the tax is being paid? One of the many jobs of the IRS is to ensure people are paying their taxes. I thought we already tried this back in the 1920s or 30s, and it didn’t work I mean the flat tax thing.
Rich people have this thing called BUY, BORROW, And DIE. In which they’ll have assets like stocks, real estate, art…etc, and borrow against it to live on until they die and pass it on to the next of kin tax-free. It’s a fucking stupid idea because it mainly affects people with incomes and not people that own assets who are mostly the wealthy unless you’re talking about farmers.
If there is no IRS, why should I pay taxes at all?
The IRS goes after those who don’t pay. I’ll contract all my work and pay zero in taxes.
I highly support this.
Get rid of the securities backed line of credits that would raise a lot of money
What’s up with this right wing bullshit in this sub the last couple of months? What kind of stupid question is this?
Of course not. A flat tax is highly regressive in a highly unequal country it’s the worst one can do.
