US delegation met with Mexico’s government on migrant influx • FRANCE 24 English

It turned out to be a relatively short meeting between the US delegation and their Mexican counterparts this Wednesday in Mexico City just two hours both parties went in with their respective wish lists the United States want Mexico to remove some of those migrants from the border to move them

Toward the South they also want Mexican authorities to provide incentives for some of those migrants to stay in the country by providing them work visas for instance now meanwhile Mexico wants more development aid for the region they also want the White House to consider improving relations with Cuba and

Venezuela and to even think about decreasing or even lifting some of the sanctions on those two countries now after the meeting Mexico said it had emphasized the importance of maintaining border crossings open just last week two very important railroad crossings were closed for 5 days and according to a

Mexican Trade Organization every single day those Crossings were closed uh they were losing $100 million in delayed shipments now of course with all approximately 6,000 migrants crossing the border illegally every single day it is also a Race Against Time 2024 is an election year here in the United States

And it would be very bad for the incumbent President Joe Biden if things were to appear out of control at the southern border

  1. It’s hard to provide aid to chronically corrupt countries, that’s kind of the death knell that prevents these countries from being anything more than what they are today.
