Labour proposes windfall tax on North Sea oil and gas to reduce bills

  1. There are 32p worth of duty for every kg of LPG/LNG, 5% of the energy bill is VAT…. How about scrapping the duty on fuels for home heating and electricity production?

  2. A good idea is better than doing nothing. While I would agree with reducing VAT for heating homes temporarily, we really need to invest in green energy so the electric heating is cheaper long term and so the UK isn’t so reliant on LPG.

  3. You tax the companies more, the bills go up in response unless you couple this with a cap on tariff increases.

It’s halfhearted by Labour, they need to do better.
