I did one for brekkie, and one for last night. I got auto-banned yesterday for mentioning a political party. Sorry about that, won’t happen again.

First sarnie was with salad cream and it was frigging awesome. But I did four fishfingers, and structural integrity was compromised

Next day, new adventures.

I added crisps (walkers, salted) and switched salad cream for Coleman’s tartare sauce. It was absolutely banging!

I will up the ante, and make my own breaded cod, bake a sourdogh loaf and stir my own tartare sauce.

It is bound to be awful, but I won’t budge.

  1. Lightly toast teh bread and use ketchup. For more britishness, add chips.

  2. I’m honestly kind of fascinated to know how you managed to mention a political party in a post about fish finger sandwiches

  3. I am a little ashamed that I am 38, British, lived here all my live and never once thought to add salad cream to a fish finger sarnie.

  4. I’d have to go with a good danish Remoulade for that rather than salad cream or tartare

  5. that looks bloody lovely, i want one.

ill trade you a 12 box of ferrero rocher for one of these lovelies.

  6. Mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, gherkins with mine, delicious. Can I suggest for you to try the Sainsbury’s taste the difference fish fingers next time? They are bigger and very tasty.

  7. I don’t even like fish fingers but this looks tasty af

  8. Perfectly fried golden brown fish fingers 😋

Ignore the ketchup and Worcester sauce talk, tartare is the way

  9. What type of fish finger are you using?

For me, there is nothing better than Haddock fish fingers in a buttered bread roll.

  10. Unpopular opinion – try sweet chilli sauce. And mayo.

    It’s banging.

    Also classic ketchup is good.

  11. Wow you really have took the Britishness to heart.

  12. Salad cream ey?

All my life I’ve ONLY ever used tomato sauce (childhood thing I guess) but would you rate salad cream and/or tartar sauce above that? Winning combo becomes my lunch!

  13. >I will up the ante, and make my own breaded cod, bake a sourdogh loaf and stir my own tartare sauce.

    this is the way.

  14. Pro tip, invest in an air fryer and air fry the life out of the fish fingers. Then sprinkle with malt vinegar.
Fish finger coating becomes crunchy, the vinegar will soften the fish.

  15. I’m not normally someone who adds cheese to everything, but add cheese. Lol.

I’m with you on salad cream and crisps.

My fish finger sarnie: bread toasted in frying pan (dry), 4 fish fingers, grated cheese (not melted), and either salad cream OR ketchup and mayo mixed to make a quick Marie rose type sauce. Its probably my fave sauce with fish fingers.
Salad usually ruins the sandwich before I finish it so ill have a few bits on the side rather than in the sandwich.

  16. You should have put creamed-spinach and mash instead of crisps if you wanted a svensk fiskpinnemacka – men ser god ut iaf

  17. Did you cook the fish fingers in a dry frying pan? It’s so much better than in the oven, doesn’t dry them out at all

  18. Fish cakes sandwiches are bigger and just as good as a teen that used to smoke 🍃 they were a go to 😂

  19. That looks flippin amazing. For a Caribbean twist, try with some Reggae Reggae sauce if you can source some!

  20. I incorrectly parsed ‘swedish fish fingers…’ and wondered why in the name of all that’s holy you’d want gummy sweets on bread.

  21. No lemon yet.. jk. Smashing job, most British fish finger sandwich ever

  22. Looks well boss that does, salted butter on the bottom layer for me please.

  23. I was going to ask you to marry me, but then I spotted the gherkin 🤢

  24. Most impressive thing is managing to close it without the filling flying everywhere.

  25. Ketchup/red sauce is another go to althoe much prefer salad cream but sometimes you have to do what you have to do

  26. Nah, I’d smash that into my face no worries! 😁👍

  27. Liking the added gherkin.
Looking forward to seeing your gourmet version. I known conceptually that a fish finger sarnie and homemade goujons on sourdough are the same thing; some purists will say they’re not.
    Can’t wait.

  28. I want me one of those sandwiches, oh sir yes I do, ohboyohboyohboyohboy 👀

  29. Looks delicious! I had a fish finger sarnie or butty for lunch yesterday with prawn cocktails crisps, was delicious. I didn’t take a photo because I was so hungry 🤣
