  1. I believe her full title is Lorna Thick-as-pig-shit Slater. Please use it in future.

  2. KATE Forbes is “building a particular faction” within the SNP with calls for the governing agreement with the Greens to end, Lorna Slater has said.

Speaking to the PA news agency, Slater – alongside her Scottish Green co-leader Patrick Harvie – said Forbes was “working on internal politics” in the SNP, while First Minister Humza Yousaf has established a “very progressive Cabinet”.

Following the 2021 Holyrood election, the two pro-independence parties agreed to co-operate in areas of mutual agreement, giving Nicola Sturgeon’s government a majority at Holyrood in return for two ministerial roles.

This Bute House Agreement has been the focus of scrutiny from within the SNP group in 2023, with calls from both Forbes and backbencher Fergus Ewing for it to be scrapped.

Forbes narrowly lost out to Yousaf in the SNP leadership contest in March, with the new First Minister agreeing to keep the governing deal with the Greens in place after his victory.

    Forbes was approached for comment.

The Green leaders told PA that they did not see any reason for the Bute House Agreement to come to an end before the next Holyrood election.

Slater said: “I think it does show the power of the agreement. Kate Forbes is working on internal politics. She’s trying to build a particular faction.

“She didn’t win the leadership election, Humza did, and Humza has put into place a very progressive Cabinet. In many areas, they align with us, not all.”

The majority of SNP parliamentarians and members back the idea of a stable pro-independence government, she said.

  3. No shit sherlock.

Aside from independence their politics have nothing in common.

  4. I can’t stand what the SNP is doing to our country, but the the so-called Greens are the cause of many of the deepest problems. Tiny vote share but huge power to fuck the country up. Get them booted.

  5. The sooner the inadequate, incompetent, walking Dunning-Kruger combo of Slater and Greer are drummed out of office, the better. It’s beyond baffling that we promoted this hapless pair of list-vote weirdo ideologues anywhere above tea and coffee duties.

  6. I’d rather the Greens than Forbes was ever anywhere near the levers of power.

  7. The sooner Forbes is booted out to the Tories or ALBA the better.

  8. Would they prefer a minority government, supported by the Greens? A coalition or minority support with Labour? A coalition or minority support with the Conservatives?

Or maybe they would rather enter opposition, so there could be a Conservative-Labour-Lib Dem-Green-Alba coalition (or minority agreement). This is technically possible, though they’d only have a 1 seat majority.

  9. Give me a hundred Ross Greers over even half a wee free any day

  10. Well I don’t know why the snp don’t ditch the greens. They are killing them. Plus are they really going to vote down the snp’s other policies ? It’s an empty threat. Humza seems to be letting Harvie and Slater come up with all the polices

    And I’m anti snp BTW.

  11. Seeing people here boil this down to a left/right issue, forgetting there is a rural/metropolitan aspect to it too.

So full honesty, Ive voted SNP/Green the past few elections. I sit somewhere on the left politically, im pro LGBT rights, generally quite socially liberal. With all that said I wont be voting green again.

Why? Im from Na h-Eileanan Siar and it has been made abundantly clear through the HPMA proposals that the greens have no fucking clue what they are doing with rural Scotland, to the point where they were inadvertently advocating for the clearing of the islands. Showing a shocking level of historical and cultural ignorance and being pretty fucking insulting when they talk about saving Gaelic or Gaidhealtachd culture.

As much as I dislike Forbes and her conservative views the fact of the matter is she is far more willing to fight for rural Scotland than those in the Greens and elements of the SNP. It puts people like me in a shitty situation.

One (of many) reasons I left the SNP was due to people like John Mason, Kate Forbes regressive views but that doesnt mean I support centralisation and the clearing of rural Scotland.

Edit: Also there are some people within the SNP who are just as bad. There are SNP members out here who backed the HPMA proposal, and still do.

This isnt a promotion of Labour or the Tories. They also originally backed the same plans.

TLDR: Left leaning rural Scots have no one to vote for.

  12. SNP has always had a socially conservative rib cage within them, it’s why SNP policy isn’t as progressive as the media likes to believe.

  13. Both of them should be thrown out of office for cutting housing and killing Scots.

Won’t happen cause actual politics that matters is different to the playfighting careerism of capital P Politics
