Rise in dashcam submissions leads to more dangerous drivers being caught

  1. Just head to Tiktok and there’s no end of examples of dangerous driving with plates clear to see. Must be a bit of a free hit for the police assuming such examples are considered useable as evidence.

  2. I haven’t submitted any yet, but I would say every time I drive over 10 miles, I could upload at least one incident. Tailgating and lane cutting being the most common (especially those who have to overtake you at any cost just before they take the exit ramp), and excessive speeding. Unfortunately, you can’t really use dashcam footage for speeding offences even if it records your speed because it’s not possible to measure other drivers’ exact speeds.

Edit: mentioning the lack of using indicators is pretty pointless, it’s so prevalent that you would end up uploading 10 recordings every time you drive around the block.

  3. fun fact. the UK arguably has the safest roads in the world

  4. Police need to set up some kind of portal for people to upload this footage easily.

If I knew anything would happen, I would thoroughly enjoy submitting footage of middle lane hoggers !

  5. 1. lock all bmw drivers in prison for a month

    2. have the most safe country in the world

    3. enjoy peaceful life

  6. Dashcams are cheap and should be a standard feature an all new cars.

    Easiest convictions ever.

  7. Meanwhile “MSB Michael Schublacker” constantly posts himself driving extremely dangerously on public roads with full face shown and is somehow not in prison.

  8. There should be an app where you can submit these incriminating clips to the government and get a cut of the fine.

  9. Bunch of sad twats in this thread. Is this really the future you want for the UK? Recording everyone constantly so you can snitch on people for petty infractions.

  10. Won’t be long before the country is policed by the public with stuff like this

Send in your dash cam footage and each prosecution will give a £10 reward to the submitee

  11. The most dangerous driving I see on motorways is from people absolutely pig sick of having to go around middle lane drivers. And I can totally resonate. Often they then go on a spree of undertaking and overtaking at speed in rage. (not justified, of course). It gets worse when you hit the midlands driving south. The M25 is peak middle lane driving. It’s such a relief getting north of Sheffield on the M1

The second most is jumping red lights (though whether it’s dangerous depends on the location). I really don’t see much other dangerous driving these days
