First Hydrogen Buses Arrive to Reno. The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe Co. has discovered that electric-battery buses have some limitations that hinder their effectiveness. Therefore, the RTC is now investing in hydrogen fuel-cell buses, which are considered superior technology.

Hydrogen isn’t a practical fuel system for buses. Hydrogen fuel has poor energy density and compressed fuel is dangerous in collisions.
And just by chance, blue grey and black hydrogen can be made out of oil, coal and natural gas.
But it sounds green.
> The drivers and mechanics of these new buses will train on virtual reality headsets funded by the Federal government
Ugh. Can we stop just wasting money with this stupid hyper futuristic sounding stuff. This is just dumb. All rollouts of “VR training” eventually just go back to watching it on a screen, or reviewing paper.
From a more comprehensive article:
> Jones told the Sun on Wednesday that because Las Vegas can see temperatures anywhere from 120 degrees to the low 40s, having buses fueled by different types of renewables will help the county weigh which options are best in the valley as gas- and diesel-powered buses get phased out.
> We want to make sure we don’t put all of our eggs in one basket,” Jones said. “And so this way, with both the hydrogen fuel cell technology and the battery-electric technology, we’ll test them out on our roadways. And as we make those decisions in the next few years, we can make sure that we have the right mix in our fleet.”
I applaud them demoing in the real world the various technologies side by side.

So many hydrogen shills in this subreddit lately.
