Different jurisdictions. Has been that way for over 100 yrs. Here’s to the next 100 🇬🇧
Different jurisdictions and also different warning system. One is based on human impact (met office uk) and met Eireann is based on threshold.

There is a *very* clear difference between issuing a weather forecast for a region and doing something which might be misconstrued as an official weather alert, which can lead to anything from travel restrictions to widespread school closures.
Met Éireann very clearly and correctly avoided making any sort of official announcement about weather warnings in Northern Ireland, because it is not within their purview to do so.
Weather gives zero fucks about the constitutional reality?!?!. Big assed storm….
It *slams* the criticism, absolutely *slams* it.
Idiots, don’t you know the 30,000 foot tall ice wall at the border keeps us in the south safe from Prods and Shinners but also shields us from their weather, bad Tayto and accents
