Hipsters are single handedly keeping the PVC industry alive it seems…
Vinyl records are a terrible medium and the CD should have killed it off completely. Unfortunately mostly people are now interested in convenience over sound so streaming is now more commonplace. Yet you’ll never find someone nailing a CD to their bedroom wall.
I wonder how many just stop oil muppets are buying them 🤔
With the cost of energy these days, we need the warmth that vinyl gives off to heat our homes.
Wow, that surprises. Me considering the price of them
This thread will no doubt have a load of people casting negative asperations as to the motives as to why people vinyl.
For me, it has sweet fuck all to do with nostaligia or to do with “sound quality”… even if I am partial to that nice low level harmonic distortion a well maintained record produces
It’s to do with a sense of ownership and archivism. I want a artifact from the musicians who bring us so much joy. A transactions you don’t get from streaming. CDs are better, but they’re such a soulless, lifeless medium.
When I look at my record collection I see the musical journey I’ve been onto to get to my taste where it is today. I love that. Long may it continue.
Interesting that blu ray isn’t in the same boat, especially considering the craptacular stuff happening with streaming services now
2023 has been the biggest year for vinyl since records began. We’re going to needle ot of crates if we’re going to negotiate with Europe for the vinyl countdown this year, but if yours is on the 45, raise a glass (full to the brim) to Asha Bhosle.
