We do have some. I see few of the kei boxes and other types like Daihatsu. A proper reseller would be great tho. The prices of insurance, tax and maintenance on these is so low it would appeal to a lot of people
Nothing screams perfect for Irish roads more than a soft top
I had a 94 Beat (Galway), fantastic car. Bit intimidating on the motorway with arctics and very little storage other than that it was excellent
I would fucking love an S660. Mid engined mini S2000. All the fun without breaking the speed limit.
I had a Daihatsu Mira when I lived in Japan. 500cc, great little car. Got me all over the place, and then I passed to a friend when I left, and it went for years more.
Dihatsu charade was a popular car here in the mid to late 80’s and early 90’s, the banks had a zero or near zero Apr loan for them if I remember right.
Nice little car for the time.
I couldn’t imagine driving one of those in this SUV mad country, you’d be blinded by the LED headlights all the time!
I drove a few Kei cars. They’re great, handy, easy to drive. Cheap to buy and fix.
I’d love one of the tiny pickups or vans.
2 seat sports car, with a softtop. Why are they perfect? If you want one, grand. But hardly a car in demand.
I do like k trucks like the Honda acty and the old Bedford rascals kinda follow that train. But I’m 6’7″ so even a full size toyota dyna is horribly uncomfortable. I would love an mx5 but I’d have my doubts I’d fit in one easily too. I know a Z4 I can fit in but most german cars are sized towards larger people. Horses for courses I suppose.
I’ve parked beside one of these before it was a 161, its absolutely tiny in person
Quite a few folks importing Kei trucks and cars, JDM Auction Watch have sourced cars for a few friends of mine.

Is it not easy enough to import?

I looked into getting a nearly new Alto Works before lockdown, there’s a few owners on Backroads. https://www.backroads.ie/forum/car-related/r-roads/21257-kei-car-and-microcar-owners-on-backroads
I used to see a Daihatsu Copen the odd time in one of the car parks in Dublin city. Cool little thing. It was about as big as my shoe.
I had a Daihatsu Mira Avanzato XX-R, 660cv turbocharged 4wd. So much fun
Have we that many hairdressers to drive them?
you have a very small PP
I’m too fat for these.
I barely fit in me 1.3 Mazda.
They’d be good cars on the old displacement tax regime.
smol pp
