  1. Oleksandr Radchuk, 13, last saw his mother almost two years ago in a filtration camp in the village of Bezimenne in the Mariupol district, where they were taken by Russians. Fortunately, a year ago, his grandmother, Liudmila Siryk, went to the so-called ‘DNR’ territory and brought her grandson back from Russian captivity.

‘Mom said she would come back to me. I believe she’ll return, and I’m trying to search for her: checking the internet (where missing persons are searched for) and on Telegram. I look, but she’s not there,’ says Oleksandr. His grandmother sends letters to various Russian institutions in an attempt to find her daughter, but she’s yet to receive a reply.

On February 7th, Oleksandr is scheduled for another surgery on his eye. He sustained the injury from shrapnel while rescuing his three-year-old sister, Victoria, from shelling. The boy mentions that he sees everything blurred and only light with the damaged eye.
