The NYT is covering Belgorod on its front page. The photo features people carrying a victim. Astonishingly, that photo is of Ukrainian victims in Zaporizhzhia — not Belgorod.

  8. You have to wonder what is going on at the NY Times. If you look into the names of their writers on Ukraine you can see many with strong Russian backgrounds or ancestry.

  9. Had kept my NYT acct primarily because of Wordle, but I just went and unsubscribed and deleted my acct. 2+ years of Wordle stats aren’t worth keeping if it means supporting a Russian mouthpiece. Fuck the NYT.

  19. The photo is correctly captioned so I don’t see what the problem is. The “Analysis” article talks about Russian missile strikes killing Ukrainians – the picture obviously illustrates that.

  21. Why would you be shocked? They reported last month that Israel bombed a major hospital in Gaza that killed 800+ people and used a fake image when they did despite all of it being 100% fake and a failed Hamas rocket that landed in a parking lot.

    The NYT isn’t quite Fox News or the the Examiner at this point, but they’re trying hard to sink that low.

  24. NYTimes sells editorial/opinions with cookie cutter section as “news”. In the cookie cutter section, they peddle wine openers, womens’ bra, panties (not joking, they once wrote an editor from a NYTimes department wears the panty) etc to keep their newspaper alive. Their news is not worth the paper it is printed upon.

  25. Some day I hope people realize that the media is nothing more than a massively profitable, multi-billion dollar advertising vehicle.

    There might have been an era of ethical and moral standards in the industry, but we certainly aren’t living in it. These companies willingly choose to generate millions in ad revenue from running stories about children being shot in a school. They’ll run that coverage for as long as they see the eyeballs coming in.

    Controversial incident? Let’s spin it about race, religion, or whatever else we can cook up. Oh, people are getting worked up and rioting? Let’s cover that too! Oh, some of those people ambushed cops and killed them as a result? Better cover that! All the better that we cover this over. and over. and over so people think there’s some cabal working against them. Certainly a whole bunch of those people won’t show up in DC and … oh … we better get that on the headlines! …

    They have the nerve to act like they are implicit bystanders just reporting the facts …

    The media is one of the biggest cesspools of scumbaggery there is, and that’s a damn shame.

  32. NYT is an enigma i’m center leaning maybe slightly right. I’m very pro Ukrainian and Israeli. Liberals tend to be pro Ukraine and anti Israeli. NYT is definitely left leaning but takes a negative view on Ukraine. I wonder why this is?
