If you can’t effect change by changing their opinions about the science, the next best thing to do is effect change based on things that WILL sway them. Keep your eyes on tha actual goal.
Making people care about climate change has been unsuccessful for decades. The idea of reframing it as something with more emotional immediacy is probably correct. Cattle could be animal welfare or habitat loss. Alternative energy could be jobs and not supporting patriarchal dictatorships in the Middle East. Overconsumption could be frugality and not being reliant on despotic China.
How about? “Do you enjoy eating? Breathing? Living?”..Let’s talk about why you need the earth to survive.” If people can’t get their heads around the most basic concept..ie their lives depend on the earth..then good luck walking them there with facts and data.
