> Prior also argues there is a “very heteronormative slant” to the questions, such as using the terms “girlfriend” and “boyfriend”.
What’s the issue here?
Can a lesbian not have a girlfriend, or gay men not have have a boyfriend?
Seems completely wrong, this.
(unless there’s special words for it that I’m not aware of)
Can’t believe this stupid story still being rolled out in the idiot press, it’s a public health questionnaire lol.
Kids have sex, get over it – you can’t change things so it’s better to make sure the relevant people have the best information possible.
I went to Scottish high school in the mid 2000s and remember doing a similar survey, might have been more heavily focused on drugs than sex but it definitely broached a few “taboo” subjects. Ignoring the fact that kids do these things will only make any associated problems worse.
If the census is designed to understand if kids are having sex and what can be done to protect them, why not bring up anal sex? Gay people have sex too, even gay kids.

I’m assuming you can just leave an answer blank if you so wish, so it’s not the worst thing in the world. Kids are going to experiment at that age and some will have experience of anal sex for whatever reason. It’s not like they will be shamed for answering the question, it is a health questionnaire, not a morality questionnaire.
If we pretend kids don’t have sex they won’t. Seems sensible to me.
It’s a question that should be asked, lots of people think their kids are not doing this type of act when they are.
Nicola surgeon sending text messages to teenagers saying ‘do you like anal lol’
Census or job application form to work for Prince Andrew?
It appears the objections include breach of privacy (like, you absolutely *do not* want teachers to have access to this sort of data) and apparent heteronormativity.
Sounds like a stupid thing to send round schools, to be honest. Just assume some people are gonna be buttfucking and teach them safety. Nobody needs to know exactly how many.

Anal sex aside.
