What I love about that is how many kids/ YA books are in there. I love young adult fiction and will unashamedly read it
Awesome work but I only see one Terry Pratchett book? Judging by some of the books there you’d love the Discworld series.
Well done. Need to hit 100 in ’24.
So you failed.
Project Hail Mary is such a good book!
I wondered how many you’d end the year on!
It’s something I’m determined to get back into next year. I think I’ve half read about 5 books in the last 8 or so years since kids. A combination of no time, motivation or concentration.
What’s your aim for next year (if you have one)?
Terry Pratchett! Sick!
I strongly recommend The Watch series if you haven’t read them. Unbelievable journey.
Excellent choice in books otherwise btw, very good effort.
Some great choices in there
Brilliant, I always believe a good book will last the test of time no matter the age or the reader, so love seeing the YA books! If you don’t mind some recommendations for next year, John Wyndham is brilliant for sci fi and Alan Garner has some great YA reads – the Owl Service is amazing 😁
Great post, thanks for sharing. I love that you’ve kept all the books you read. What booking do you follow?
If you liked Redshirts by John Scalzi, his Old Mans War series is very good as well
Definitely more than I’ve read this year. Unless you count ‘Peekaboo Lion’ or ‘Ten Tiny Toes’. Bravo
That’s a good selection.
I’m currently on:
Our Mathematical Universe- Max Tegmark (good intro to physics and cosmology)
Meditations – Marcus Aurelius (Not really one you can just rip through)
Better Than Life – Rob Grant (amazing)
About to start:
The Subtle Art of Not Giving A Fuck – Mark Manson (heard it’s pretty good)
That’s great going, well done! I haven’t been able to read as many fiction books as I’d like due to the demands of doing a Diploma; it’s only in the last two weeks that I realised how down that’s made me. Reading is my escape and often, my saviour.
Have you stopped crying after finishing Goodnight Mr Tom yet?
I might have read 20 pages:(. Note to self, must read more. Note to self 2, go to the opticians and get my eyes tested.
That’s an impressive amount. I managed 19 this year which is my record since I started listing them all.
Also managed 19 back in 2018. So I need to top 19 in 2024.
What did you think of Scott Pilgrim, and have you seen the movie / tv show?
For me, it’s honestly one of the few things I like in every format, the movie is awesome, the tv show is crazy and enjoyable, and the books are awesome.
I’m finishing the year on 96 out of 156, it’s my 3rd year with a target (52, 104 & 156) but the first one I’ve missed. I think I was being too ambitious reading 3 per week…
Aiming for the same again in 2024!
How did you find the Richard Osman books? Are they worth the hype?
You did good there. My readings gone out the window over the last few years.
What’re you’d thought of Life of Pi? I really enjoyed it when I read it about fifteen years ago but the ending left me a bit cold.
And Away is superb, I have The Satsuma Complex for the new year. Good reading!
According to Good Reads I’ve read 18 (I targeted 15). We overlap on Fahrenheit 451, Strong Female Character and Satsuma Complex
I read Educated by Tara Westover this year too, it was fantastic. And Mort is my favourite Pratchett – you’ve inspired me to re-read it after many years!
I’m gonna set myself that target for 2025, just to be safe
Project Hail Mary was excellent wasn’t it!
I’m still looking for the audiobook of the decent
Amazing! I’m always trying to up my reading each year. What approach to reading worked best for you? A little bit here and there or scattered binge reading sessions? Do you set yourself deadlines through the year or just wing it?
Nice one. I’ve managed 82 this year a mixture of physical, ebook and audio. Although I did cheat by starting and ending the year by reading manga. Although I only read 15 books for the 63 that I bought this year, oops.
I wish I have more time for reading books. I have been ethusiastic to books
Excellent work.
Now get on Amazon and buy 1Q84 by haruki murakami then read the rest of his works.
I think you will like it…
Have you smiled since The Road?
Congratulations!!
Great selection of books, congratulations on your resolution success! What did you think of the Becky Chambers series?
Great work, love all the Dahl books, and life of Pi, Fahrenheit 451, The Road, The Outsiders, I’ve never read any of the Richard Osman books would you recommend them ?
Amazing work and excellent selection of books there.
I’d love to be able to do this but struggle to find time with having 2 little ones now. I did make it my mission in the summer to complete Dune before the next film and I’m almost done with book 5 of 6 so happy with that
Need to somehow ramp it up next year
You’re about 8% of the way towards owning a fully fledged library
There’s dozens of us! Dozens!
I also saw how many books I could read in 2023 – I aimed for 80 and ended on 119 (30% of the way through 120 and had to record them on a spreadsheet as the missus told me off for taking up too much space) – that is an excellent spread of books though!
How’d you find The Satsuma Complex? I enjoyed it but it progressively got more and more mid for me.
Additionally, someone else who read Redshirts this year!
(Also for more Terry Pratchett try charity shops, car boot sales or WorldOfBooks)
