  1. Fuck a fine, jail the bastards.

Fines don’t work, unless they are proportional to both wealth & income.

  2. A crackdown on litter, what a laugh, Edinburgh was overflowing with litter when I was there Thursday – Saturday. A great look for all the tourists coming to the city.

  3. You have to catch them first..

Edited: The Torys are good at meaningless, attention grabbing headlines, dare I say the snp are aswell?

  4. Should be £5000. With a multiplier for every further offence.

  5. Fly tipping should carry a £10,000 fine, £500 is fuck all

  6. So they have introduced time slots at my mums recycling centre and reduced what they take and charge for many things. So, there is no way there is any connection between those two things. Also stopped at a random layby in West Lothian and there were 6 large signs about fly tipping. Expensive and ugly. Cause and effect anyone?

  7. Good, with two “buts”.

Good because fly tipping is a dickhead move and we need to put a stop to it.

But 1 : the fine isn’t big enough to be a deterrent, especially for commercial flytippers.

But 2: councils need to reinstate free uplifts and make it so you don’t need to book a time at the recycling centre.

  8. I don’t think most of the ignorant little shits care, let alone the older ignorant shits.

  9. How about anyone who fly tips get their state pension pushed back a year?

  10. What is fly tipping? Aside from obviously littering? Seems kind of like a specific thing?

  11. Pitiful. The fine for flytipping in California (illegal dumping as it’s referred to there) is $10,000.

Have a bit of ambition and come down on the bastards like a ton of bricks. Confiscate the vehicle and sell it to raise funds for cleaning up sites, too. And if they can’t pay a fine they should have to litter pick until they’ve paid the fine off (calculated at living wage).

  12. Fly tipping is increasing because councils have made it much more difficult some not accepting any trade waste at all at recycling centre/tip, the fine should be increased absolutely probably more than 500 but it won’t stop it, the problem can be reduced substantially by making it easier particularly for smaller trade companies to dispose of the waste at council sites

  13. They removed our two free uplifts a year with my council.

What did they think would happen?
    Fucking nuggets.

  14. £10,000 fine and a quota for 10,000 pieces of litter they have to pick from the sides of a motorway under supervision over a month. Then they won’t be so quick to do it again.

  15. Can make the fines a million pound and it won’t matter. Dickheads like this know they won’t get caught.

  16. Not everyone can drive not everyone can get booked in and pay for recycle centers ..cause and effect …really a proper investigation about all this multi bins and recycling needs done ..how effective it is.Is plastic rubbish still being shipped to China?

  17. Except the law as it stood yesterday was.
“If the case goes to court, a person who is caught littering will have to pay a fine of up to £2,500. Someone convicted of flytipping could be fined up to £40,000 and/or imprisoned for up to 12 months.”
So they could just take fly tippers to court but they don’t.
The £500 is the fixed penalty. Which they don’t hand put either. Unless it’s someone putting their fridge in the bin shelter in Glasgow.

  18. The fly tippers know where to do it without getting caught as you see it all the time. Some back roads are actually blocked sometimes due to fly tipping and the council have to go out to clear it to get the road open. If they were serious about catching the dumb dumpers they could easily install wildlife cameras at fly tipping spots to catch them.🤬
