First off a happy new year to you all! Putting myself out there a bit but sure if you don’t ask you don’t get!
This is a bit random, but I don’t know any better way of reaching out to other perhaps like minded people so here goes.
Im a trad musician, been playing whistles, sax and pipes for the best part of 20 years, but with work commitments/global pandemic music has taken a bit of a back seat lately. I’m keen to get things going again, and would like to get a bit creative, blending Irish trad with electronic music/backing tracks/ create something a bit different – but just don’t really have the connections/ have the contacts to make it happen. So, hello Reddit
Are you someone who is into music production/makes backing tracks/has an interest in getting creative with music –
If you like the music of Ross Ainslie, project smok, Ali levack etc (all complete legends and blazing a trail in the trad scene over in Scotland) and want to create something similar/ rehearse for the craic or maybe one day release an EP to say there you are, we created that, send me a DM. Or even if you’re someone with a music production background that just makes low fi beats for the craic and fancies pushing the boundaries and trying something new to see if it works, send me a message. It might work it might not, but keen to get creative in 2024 and make some tunes.
This is the sort of music I’m talking about
Even if you’ve never heard of these guys or perhaps it wouldn’t be your typical genre of music, check them out and go along to one of their gigs/buy their EPs! They’re insanely talented
TL:DR
If anyone would be up for mixing Irish trad with electric music for the craic to see what happens, or if you know anyone at uni doing music technology etc and want to get creative send me a DM.
Happy new year to you all!
