  1. “A million changes and you hope that almost all of them are invisible.”
    – Fans are overall pleased with how faithful the show has been to the books.

  2. I don’t know about anyone else, but I feel like the directing is not very good. It feels like the show cuts quickly from scene to scene.

  3. I’m re-reading The Lightning Thief to compare it to the show and I’ve found the show to be pretty accurate so far.

Rick Riordan appears to be involved in the writing of the TV series and he is essentially the god of the Percy Jackson canon. Also, I think a lot of the new things are generally positive (eg. more story with Percy’s mom).

Obviously they can’t keep every detail. Like they didn’t explain why Percy’s mom was with Gabe, why she had blue candy for Percy, and smaller details.

Three episodes in, the only changes I haven’t liked were making Grover a snitch, reducing Ms. Dodds’ part to like 5 minutes, and that the bus didn’t explode.

  4. Weren’t some of the biggest complaints of the movie was that they changed to much from the book? And when developing this show, didn’t the author promise it would be a full faithful adaption?

  5. This show is so corny and low budget I love it. It straight up reminds me of Xena and Hercules as a kid. The costumes and CGI are just as bad but the characters are still likable and have decent chemistry.

  6. Every change so far has been good in my opinion. The Medusa story for example was greatly improved in the show.

  7. As a fan of the books I think the show is keeping the material very faithful considering Riorden is involved. BUT the main actor is very distracting due to poor acting skills. I mean he is a kid, sure, but the other kid actors and adults around him doing a great job make him unfortunately stand out. I hope he gets a few more acting workshops in and improves by season 2.

  8. it’s a terrible adaptation of the books, and I’m so disappointed in it. if you’re going to make a show based on a book, follow it. and make the cast accurate to the descriptions in the books.

  9. Some of the changes are big, like the Medusa stuff, granted, but in the end, Rick approved of it. Rick wants this for us and I think that just means we should trust the changes.
