Hallo!

I am an American looking to move to Germany with my Austrian partner in the near future

Since she is an EU national it would appear that I can move with her throughout the European Union.

now in the wiki it says that moving to germany simply to live with an unmarried partner is not allowed however according to an official EU website ([europa.eu](https://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/family/couple/de-facto-unions/index_en.htm)) this is not the case when moving there with another EU national. The webpage was last checked for accuracy in October of this year so I’d assume it is accurate.

>Moving to another EU country
>
>If you move with your **de facto partner** to another EU country, that country **must facilitate their entry and residence** there – whether your partner is an EU national or not.
>
>You must be able to prove you live together or that you are in a long-term relationship. However, most EU countries have not defined exactly how you can prove a long-term relationship or cohabitation.

So this leaves me with a two questions

* Does Germany have a set of rules for proving a long term durable relationship?
* If not does anyone have any idea how we‘d do this?
* Is this a rocky position to be in? (Ie are there catches to this that a married couple in this same situation not have to deal with?)

I am an EMT hopefully by the time I am in Germany a paramedic.

If anyone could testify to how working as an EMT in Germany is I’d be grateful.

If anyone who is LGBT could speak to their experiences in Munich I’d appreciate it. It seems that is where we will end up since it is close to Austria and a lot more like Austria compared to the rest of Germany. additionally as a flag nerd I like their flag 🙂

I’d also like to import my car from the US to Germany. Since it is over 30 years old (1992) It’d reckon that it‘d be a lot different from not only importing a modern car but from owning a modern car as well. If anyone has experience with any of these two things I’d appreciate to hear about it

Thanks for reading my wall of text and thanks in advance for your help 🙂
