  1. Sentencing is far too weak in the UK. We should be using more indefinite sentences not less.

  2. Violent animal is upset it’s caged.

    Tough.

Maybe we should ensure these kinds of people are muzzled and not allowed out without being on a lead.

  3. You know it must be bad when even a Tory minister calls it a “a stain on the justice system”.

  4. There are many cases where indeterminate sentences were unjustly given, this isn’t one of them.

  5. I worked with G4$ in one of its flagship prisons.

I feel I have an insight that a lot of the public doesn’t in regards to these people.

The vast fucking majority of IPPs are for good reason, these are animals. One guy raped the mother and then her 14 yo for 3 days before he got caught, I dont want animals like these out, at all.

  6. 3 firearms offences, you won’t get much sympathy lol

  7. Don’t commit abhorrent crimes would be the answer here really.

  8. Can’t be that isolated if you’ve spoken to the guardian and have a youtube channel…

  9. Loads of convictions including 3 for firearms. One of which was armed robbery. History of escaping and of smashing up prison property. Claims that it’s hard to meet the ‘no longer a danger to society’ restrictions on the indefinite sentence. Have you tried though bro?

Prison needs a reform in this country. Just not sure blokes like this are likely to make a very good case for it.

  10. People seem to be talking about general crime here. Or as if the UK locks people away for 20 years because they got caught dealing weed.

The folks on ‘indefinite row’ are an exception. General crime has no bearing here!

  11. I worked with many men who were given IPPs.

Just 1 example was a man who’d admitted to sexually assaulting more than 80 boys in his life. He was about 65 when I worked with him.

His offending was known of since around age 25.

It took 40 years and dozens of raped children before he was given an IPP.

He wasn’t the “worst” he just sprang to mind.

Fuck these animals, I hope they suffer indefinitely.

  12. Indefinite sentence for being a violent offender, cry more you fucking idiot and get that landing swept.

  13. Hardly total isolation if he has a YouTube channel and giving interviews

  14. All sentences for violent crimes should be IPPs.

The government has to prove beyond reasonable doubt to get you into prison; you should have to prove beyond all reasonable doubt you’re safe to be released.

It would be quite a simple setup. A jury is called to review your sentence by going over your trail notes. If one person on the jury of 12 is prepared to volunteer vicarious liability for your future crimes, then you can go free. If they don’t, then you don’t get released.

  15. Surely, the saying, if you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime. Comes to mind

  16. Wow. I didn’t realise the UK was full of foaming mouth right wingers. Should this guy do time for what he did, absolutely. Should he have been given a potential whole life sentence? No and that’s what it is. His actions in prison are a result of that sentence.

Some people are calling for them to be reintroduced. Amazing how people don’t realise or think about the consequences. Lets say we reintroduce them. Now every criminal that like this one robs a takeaway with a fake gun is going go absolutely hell bent on not getting caught. This puts not only the Police in danger but also the public. Then what happens when they get to prison? They think fuck it why not kill a prison guard or another prisoner, it’s not like they are getting out. Prisons without rehabilitation. Great idea. These sentences were aimed at the most serious of offenders yet they were used inappropriately. This is problem with cheering for government to either get more powers or give harsher sentences they are misused. I ready do smh sometimes at the thought processes of some people. Don’t forget we are now directing judges to not jail people for minor offenses. That’s another consequence because now the prisons are full of people that possibly should be out.

  17. I’m torn on this.

IPP prisoners maybe should be re-sentenced or have a case review to bring their sentence up to modern standards. Many of them may no longer need to be on such a sentence and it could be adjusted.

On the other hand, those sentences were created to serve a purpose and were handed down for a damned fine reason. You also run the risk of re-sentencing some of the worst offenders on a backdated basis and effectively writing off their punishment.

  18. IPP sentences were handed out too readily by judges to people who didn’t really deserve them, any violence will push a successful parole back 5 years and if you’re released any there’s even a minor issue you’re being recalled to prison
There’s plenty of villains who deserve to be kept from society, but the system is on the bones of its arse, awful staff retention means no regimes being ran and there’s not enough purposeful activity to keep the cons from getting involved in drugs, gangs and drama.

I do feel for many of the cons, but it’s the system that’s letting them down while inside.

  19. Dude has well done his time, IPP is long gone, he should be a free man

  20. Personally I think we should bring back the oubliette.
