Drill into the nation’s 3.7% unemployment rate, and you’ll find Government, social assistance and healthcare account for 56% of the 2.8 million net new jobs over the past year, nearly all gains in blue states such as New York and Illinois.

What is driving the increase in social welfare jobs?
“The tens of thousands of migrants pouring into big cities need to be tended to. So do the hundreds of thousands of drug-addled and mentally ill homeless living on the streets. Progressive government doesn’t do anything on the cheap. America’s welfare state has thus become a proverbial Big Dig, and it keeps getting bigger.”
“damn these blue states for trying to solve social problems and improving their economy in the process? Here in texas we just let the poor and homeless die!”
Blue states like mine have had to boost spending on healthcare to accommodate all the women fleeing here from red states that have elected to become ob/gyn deserts, so there’s that.
Fuck another BS article. Anyone wanna dig deeper and look at the percentage of Americans working more than one job just to get by…. NY is having a mass exodus of retirees and people who can’t afford to live there any longer, they’re fleeing to LCO states.
It’s almost like the blue states are the engines of America’s economy. Who would’ve guessed NYC and Chicago are massive job creation engines?
And?
WSJ is a great newspaper…except the editorial page. It’s pure Murdoch nonsense. It’s written by people in a sealed bubble waiting for 1983 to come back. They justify trump by cherry picking ineffective liberal polities (which they should) however they use these anecdotes to justify trump while pretending he’s mitt Romney.
Medicaid expansion would create a lot of jobs in Red States plus provide desperately needed healthcare. The 44% must be new factory jobs.
Yes, these jobs are mostly increasing the burden on taxpayers, and not increasing the wealth, at ll. That is why real wages keep dropping.
Nearly the gains in states where people live
So Blue states creating jobs and a lot of people get good paying jobs in healthcare. Healthcare jobs are real jobs most for the for profit corporations that hire when they need the help. Not sure of the point the OP is making.
This is like the Obama criticism that he only created “McJobs.”
