Higgins The Pheasant – still going strong and visiting regularly. Appears to have been spending most of Christmas at one of the neighbour’s houses. Had a bite to eat, now having a nap in the kitchen.

6. Some anecdotes about Higgins.

   – her attention goes to whatever her preferred human in that moment is doing. Typing on the laptop, she’s there, If someone is cooking she tries to be there too (she’s banished from the kitchen when things are hot), she loves it when the guys are planting or weeding, just watching what they do, and so on. As a result of this, she really likes children when they play in the garden and so nearby houses (like 1km or so away) who have children often find her visiting there too.

   – because throughout the summer we were running many masonic and esoteric events, she has associated the smell of incense with me being around, so i can “summon” her by lighting a joss-stick outside and she’ll appear within 10 mins or so.

   – owing to health issues, i don’t get over there as often as I used to (My friend sends the photos/video). But when I do, she remembers me and will come over and “talk” – it’s very characteristic and she doesn’t do this with anyone else. She’ll hang out with me for a bit and then she loses interest and is off again.

   – when she was little I knew all her `cheeps` and what they meant. Now, I don’t recognise any of them, she speaks a different language now.

   – she now has a young male that follows her around, but is still too shy to follow her into the house. She completely ignores him.

   – she really hates white shoes and will attack anyone wearing them. She becomes quite vocal and hostile and more than one visitor has needed to be rescued from her.
