Family trip to Somerset House today, only to find that the rink is under an inch of water, with no visible drainage. [Video](https://imgur.com/a/MMEXgEy)

People falling over and completely soaking themselves, presumably wrecking their days (and devices etc)

Staff on site refusing to issue refunds for those who would rather not risk a soaking.

I’d always regarded Somerset House as an expensive but decent rink, but this honestly feels like a fly by night operation now.

TLDR: if you want to spend a lot of money on ice skating, spend it somewhere else

  1. The FAQ says:

    “What happens in bad weather?

The ice rink is open-air and skating continues come rain or shine.

Remember to dress warmly and wear something waterproof if you are worried it might rain. You could also bring a change of clothes and spare socks if the weather forecast predicts rain.

Tickets are not transferable or refundable.”

So even if you didn’t anticipate adverse weather for an open air event in January, you were given fair warning. If they closed it every time it rained, the business would collapse.
