First they came for our slabs, now they’re coming for our chimbleys.
I would be down for it in new houses that have modern decent insulation and heating. A chimney takes up a lot of space. Basically taking up a entire wall in your living room.
They should put maximum price limit on insurance next and leave us the fuck alone, tired of getting fucked from every direction
Prof Sodeau can FUCK. RIGHT. OFF.
Sounds pretty extreme
We just went sale agreed on a house that has a chimney. We don’t have a chimney in our current house. If there’s some kind of incentive or something to pay for removing it in the new house I’ll take it.
Bro my house is cold as fuck without a fire going.
If you get a house without a chimney is it straight forward enough to install a stove? A pipe out through a wall would do it? Sure we only live in a country thats damp and wet 90% of the time
Yes it is.
Living in Dublin in a Ber G house. No central heating and single glazed metal frame windows. The fire is literally the only thing that makes the downstairs habitable 4-5 months of the year
Surely it’s the fuel being burned as opposed to the chimney.
Sure keep it coming next we won’t be able to wear the colour green unless it’s a Tuesday.
Id like to see them try.

He can fuck off.
Utter bullshit and I will tell you why .
1. They need to start with banning the dirtiest fuels first and see where that gets us. Coal , peat and seasoned or wet wood being burnt need to be fully addressed first.
2. There are technological solutions to help with this , stoves with certain features burning the correct fuel will cut down on particulate matter also .
3. Hunt down those burning rubbish in their fires, the smell of burning plastics and rubbish is noticeable in some areas.
4. Push everyone to the cleanest fuel sources , pellets , kiln dried wood etc. And mandate that it must all come from sustainable forestry , no exceptions .
5. HGVs and diesel , petrol cars all need to be tackled at the same time .
From a global perspective I am all for doing our part but when you see this sort of shit being floated out there when the likes of China are building coal burning power plants with equivalent output of the entire UK it’s a bit Galling .
Target the global corporations , the biggest polluting countries first .
What about houses that are older and primary heat source is a fire, and the owners cannot afford to get better heating systems in? Should they just be left freezing?
IF everybody just cares about themselves and their “rights” we are going to live in a pretty crappy society.
I personally like breathing clean air when I’m outside.
Burning anything in your fireplace is a VERY inefficient way to heat your home.
This is the usual out of sight out of mind mentality push my studies with agendas , at the end of the day the powerplants are burning gas from Russia. Of course all the power companies want us using their gas and electricity.
I have to run a storage heater that cost a fortune bill was 300 for 2 months last time and I only run it at after 11 when the rates are cheaper and my place is still freezing , the place has a fireplace but the landlord blocked it as they didn’t want the old carpet get sparkles on it. I talked to one of my neighbours and she spends 25% what I do on electricity and burns logs to keep the pace warm. And if I’m paying that much for no heat that a waste of electricity of I Kant keep my place warm.
Honestly if they take away fires then they can take away the BBQ, wood fired pizza ovens and anything that’s runs on petrol like lawnmowers.
I would vote for the any pro pyro party.
Why not just take the little bit of wages we have left ye fucking useless shower of overpaid cunts.
Don’t look up
A lot of stick, not a lot of carrot
How is wood worse than coal “in many ways”?
Banning new builds from having fireplaces, I don’t mind, banning people from using their existing fireplaces, when they don’t have central heating, I do.
The home is nothing without the hearth.
Before I even opened this I knew the article would be from the examiner
It’s pure click bait rubbish
Then you read the article, I hate that I clicked into it, and it’s some randomer with nothing to do with the government coming up with this
The the first thing he says
A – Ask if a fire is necessary and use other cleaner heating sources instead if possible;
Really the standard of journalism is shocking these days, but fair play to the examiner the have figured out a target audience and they keep giving that audience what they want
Having an open fire or a stove allows for some form of heating in the event of a powercut. Having the ability to be self sufficient like that is worth it in my opinion. I know it doesn’t get as cold here but remember the cold snap and blackouts in Texas where people died in their homes due to cold.
I’m going to burn my home in protest!
My main issue with this would be how else could you heat your home in a power cut? After a storm, power can be out for hours or even days in more rural areas.
The shite some people throw in the fire, thank god
So just after MUP we have the next great idea from the Ministry of Sadistic Virtue Signalling.
We have a chimney and remember using it ever.
Of course it’s extreme. Don’t be ridiculous
I still use a back boiler. Clean.out the fire everyday, light it. Don’t have oil or gas.
