  1. Planning policy and pensions… they’re the two reasons.

  2. NYtimes really seems to have a hate boner for the uk.

  3. Bit rich of the Americas to slag off our economy. Pot kettle black.

  4. So we should spend billions more on more nuclear plants and grids just so a chip company MIGHT build a plant here for projected demand?

    Such a great deal.

  5. Perhaps all the money being given to overseas companies to fulfil government contracts over uk companies while they skim the top. The various ppe scandals that would fulfil the pay rises for nurses and doctors plus then there are the tax loopholes being deliberately left open for donors to exploit. Pensions are an issue I grant you but why would they change a system that guarantees any ex parliamentarians a pension that is 3 times higher than the average wage.

  6. If only we could provide more free stuff, the economy would do wonders

  7. No mention of the B word?

And no, im not making everything about Brexit, Paragraf’s owner:

    >Brexit has presented to us the same challenges that many other businesses in the UK have experienced, in that it has complicated matters with our closest trade partners in the EU and has taken us out of trade agreements with countries outside the EU. Recruitment is made more challenging because we no longer have ready access to EU nationals who can fill vacant roles. Further, buying and selling – as well as business travel – between the UK and the continent has been made more difficult in the absence of the customs union.

Business investment is heavily tied to Brexit:

Not to mention Brexit’s affect on electricity prices:

You can’t talk about any part of the UK economy without talking about Brexit. I get it’s annoying but nothing is going to get better all the time we dance around the issue.

  8. 1) incompetence
    2) incompetence

Please can people who have had experience in actually running organisations be in charge.

    Here’s an idea.

Put a qualified economist with years of experience in charge of the treasury.

Put a 10+ year headmistress/teacher in charge of education

Put a lawyer who’s worked general council and legal aid for 15 years in charge of justice.

Didn’t read the article. I don’t think the general mess we are currently in Needs defining to 2 reasons.
