  1. That’s a seriously misleading headline.

“Ireland’s sovereign wealth fund achieves a top global ranking”

“Body which monitors activity of sovereign wealth entities has ranked the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund **50th out of 175** state-run funds in terms of assets under management”

“Norges Bank Investment Management, the Norwegian fund that had $1.38 trillion under management, was ranked the top state-owned fund in 2023.”

  2. Think of all the landlord tax cuts we can afford with this puppy

  3. I’m really happy to see the government creating these funds. This should counter the cancelling or mothballing major infrastructure that occurred during austerity.

  4. Lots of Sovereign Wealth Funds are just slush funds for dictators. Any democracy that sets one up should be able to beat them fairly handily.

  5. I’d love to see some investments in public transport infrastructure

  6. If I was managing a sovereign wealth fund for the good of the country, I’d be almost as happy as a fella who had, say, this cup ☕️

  7. A top global ranking from the same organisation who globally ranked mortgage products?

  8. “Are we gonna do anything with the money like build social housing, invest in public services and upgrade our infrastructure”

    “……No”

  9. 50%+ tax rate. Skint trying to raise a family and the government are setting up wealth funds. Absolutely sickening.

  10. Still waiting on a kids hospital and any resemblance of decent rail

  11. Is there a rule similar to Norway that the maximum that can be withdrawn in a single year is 3% safe guarding it for future generations?

  12. Filtering down to the people, right?

Leo: Welllll….for a few thousand at the top, myself included.
