  1. Prepare for a lot more if he’s reelected. This is the sort of thing “Dictator on day one” Donnie plans to do.

  2. Man, I have such conflicting feelings about this. On the one hand, this is insane. A president can just toss his whistleblower into solitary for an unspecified amount of time as a clear and undeniable attempt to silence his whistleblowing. Absolutely unacceptable. On the other hand, though, man, fuck Michael “what I’m going to do to you is going to be fucking disgusting” Cohen. This guy was the personal attack lawyer to the worst rich person in a country of bad rich people. We’ll probably never even get a proper headcount of all the lives this guy ruined at the whims of Trump. In many ways, he deserves far worse than this. And he certainly deserves worse than the friendly PR rebranding and image rehab that he’s received from the press. But this? This was not the way.

  3. Trump has gotten away with literally everything he has ever done. He has never once been held accountable for anything.

  4. Trump also got away with retaliating against those that testified against him at his first impeachment

  5. This is the same Daily Beast that was cheering him being placed in Solitary Confinement back in 2020, now that Cohen’s a “good guy” for being against Trump they suddenly think it’s some tragedy he was jailed

  6. And this is just a taste of the flagrant corruption this smelly asshat will bring if elected.

  7. Wait till you find out he’s gotten away with being a terrorist leader for the past seven years who plotted to overthrow the government and committed treason by stealing government documents and almost certainly sold some of them to foreign adversaries and he’s still running around without being put in prison and is even running for President of the United States.

Helluva country we’ve got here ain’t it?

  8. Never go into business with people who are shady or republicans.

  9. Yeah. We keep saying it. He gets away with EVERYTHING.

And we keep getting told “Ooooh Jack Smith is coming! The walls are closing in on Trump! He’s REALLY in legal hot water!”

And we keep saying “Really? Cause we all heard that BEFORE. Remember Mueller? That gut punch? We ‘member. We ‘member Trump escaping 2 impeachments. We ‘member Trump getting off scot-free again and again and again and again. We ‘member him inciting an insurrection on January 6th, and days later, the very Democrats he tried to have killed in the halls of Congress were out there shaking hands with their ‘dear Republican friends’ who had JUST been plotting to overthrow them. And where’s Trump? Oh, still walking free under the blue sky, golfing at his seaside mansion, committing stochastic terrorism every week, and still the FRONTRUNNER for President of the United States.”

We keep saying it, and people keep acting like Trump is “really in trouble now”.

I swear to God, Trump is going to be a year into his next Presidency and some of these Democrats will be like “As SOON as Jack Smith gets out of prison on these false charges, he’s REALLY going to go after Trump, and then there will be REAL trouble.”

Wake UP, Trump is living his best life, he will never see a jail cell, and at this point I’m half convinced Biden is quietly helping prepare for a Trump presidency, as he seems to be ACTIVELY throwing the election to Trump.

  10. I’d honestly forgotten about this – and frankly things like this should be shoved in the face of Republicans. Will it necessarily stop them? No, but it might make some around the edges waver, which matters. That and making sure such history is known to be stopped is important anyways. The excuse used to cover this corruption here should be overturned.

  11. That last year of Trump was full of shit like this.

He literally created a death squad to hunt down and murder a man accused of shooting one of his supporters. And they did it with barely any notice. If he gets back in the bloodbath will be immense.

  12. From the article:

“On Tuesday, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York affirmed a federal judge’s decision to dismiss the case, which dealt with a particularly authoritarian episode in the final year of Trump’s presidency. The three-judge panel wouldn’t let Cohen use a legal remedy that allows someone who’s been abused by federal agents to seek justice for the misconduct.
However, the panel tacitly acknowledged that something unfair clearly happened. The judges noted how the then-president’s archenemy was thrown back in prison on flimsy reasoning, and how the case was only resolved through some extraordinary intervention by a judge who eventually ordered that Cohen should be released.
Ironically, the judges ruled it was that very intervention that now prevents Cohen from holding Trump and certain government agents accountable, citing a 1971 Supreme Court case called Bivens v. Six Unknown Named Agents.”

Ya, definitely expect him to abuse this power if he’s back in office. Ugh

  13. the courts won’t even be a speed bump for this shit going forward… this may be our last election!

  14. For people who hate reading articles: There’s basically a legal tool Cohen could use to get redress after he was wronged. But because a judge intervened and released him, that tool basically was no longer an option.

  15. This just tells me that Trump will never get the punishment he deserves. He will never see jail time or be convicted. The US is a failed state and will be the new Russia next year if Trump wins (probably will as the media is doing all they can to make it happen)

Time to move back to the EU and take my family, fuck this shithole.

  16. At least it happened to an equally huge douchenag as trump

  17. Basically the current Supreme Court ruled that bivens was incorrectly decided and that federal government employees are exempt from the laws.

  18. When people say America is the greatest country in the world I point to shit like this. The president of the United States wrongly imprisoned and tortured someone he didn’t like because he was mad at him. The courts had to go to extraordinary means to get this man released, admitting he had been wrongly imprisoned. And this court just said that because the courts let him out of prison, where they admit he should not have been, he can’t seek restitution.

I’m sickened. We need a mass movement. We need to elect people who will appoint judges that will protect the citizens and not abuse them. We need to fund our public universities and law schools. It should not be something that requires a person to be born rich or be willing to compromise their integrity.

  19. He will lose. I hope Hillary runs again. Smash the glass ceiling.

  20. Michael cohens podcast is quite an entertaining listen. He’s a fucking cartoon character, but there’s a little bit of substantive content too.

  21. He should be jailed. He literally plead guilty to tax evasion and lying to congress about the hush money paid out by Trump.

  22. We no longer have a justice system. We have a “legal” system.

If you can pay the right lawyers to find the right legal technicalities, you can get away with anything.

The spirit of the law is dead.

  23. That was a test run. Just a test run for what he will actually do as a dictator.

  24. He’s going to do a lot more of this shit, and worse, if he gets elected again.

  25. Reminder that Worthless Garland allowed for all of Trump’s Russia-related crimes to expire, and neither he or Mueller bothered to charge Kushner or Donnie Jr. for attending the treasonous Trump Tower meeting: https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2022/1/24/2076471/-5-year-statute-of-limitations-is-expiring-on-Trump-s-crimes-Too-little-too-late-AG-Garland

Also reminder that Trump still hasn’t been charged for extortion Ukraine to interfere in the 2020 election. Why bother having an Attorney General, if he’s in a permanent coma?
