As my ma would say. It’s grand because it’s frozen
Reminds me of that Simpsons episode where Homer gets sick from that outdated bacon.
Have standards in SuperValu fallen this low?
Every time I go into my local supervalue I make a point to date check everything, they keep out of date stock for far too long.
Return it
Did you still eat it?
Yes I find this lot with supervalu, bring it back to them
Probably a case of Best Before rather than Use By
It’s probably fine. It’s frozen ice cream. They put BB dates on them so the stores have to buy more, more often.
Is this an every SuperValu issue or just this one specific one in the Dublin 24 area? I’d say it’s possible between my whole family that when added up all the times this happened to each of us in 2023, we’d probably make up a full shop
Supervalu is the one shop where I check EVERY date of expiry. The one in Cobh was absolutely the worst of the ones I’ve been to, but it seems like it doesn’t matter what location you’re in, look around enough and you’ll find *something* swimming in botulism.

Don’t eat it 😂
Ah come on, let’s have a look inside the carton! I want to know if it’s grown eyes or what
Bought a net of 3 large onions from a SV before came home and cut it open the same day, there was a layer that was kind of black, usually doesn’t bother me i peel that layer or cut it away and we’re good.
Nope, not this time, peeled back the layer only to fine the whole layer was black m, mushy and full of **maggots!** rang the shop to let them know so they could check their shelf for more. The woman was like ah yeh just bring it back we can refund you, I said I don’t care about the money, you sold maggots to a customer would you not go and check your stock. I said I’m not bringing it back today it’s too late maybe later it the week but just check what you have on the shelf is ok. Said they’ll have to wait till I brought it in so they can investigate. I did end up bringing it back a couple days later, spoke to the manager on shift she seemed to be a bit more urgent about it.
I worked in a business that handled food so we took food safety, dates, and foreign object reports very seriously. If a staff member reported something we’d flagged it to the supplier. So i filled out an online report with SuperValu sent pics of the onions and receipts and batch codes on the tag. Just got an automated reply saying I will be contacted by SuperValu or a third part supplier. Forgot about it for a while, melted now should’ve reported it so HSE
Surprised the epos didn’t pick up the issue. You see staff in Aldi going through items on the shelves because the system has told them there’s something that needs to be either marked down or binned.
I’d genuinely contact Musgrave’s to flag this
Probably paid about €36 for the privilege
Lidl are very efficient at rotating stock. I always take from the back, because it is without fail the freshest.
It’s a best before date not a use by date, it hasn’t “Gone off” I’d have that eaten in a heartbeat.
🤢
In a cosmic sense, it’s basically yesterday
Supervalue have shelves full of out of date stock in my local, flour years out of date
Nice wee week in tennierffe for thst one cause you ate a bit right and now ill ooops wink wink
This has happened me previously in SuperValu with another product
Did you use a shovel to dig this out? 😂
When did you buy it?
They sold me out of date dates from their fancy own brand range. I complained and they sent me a gift card with the exact amount the dates cost me. Absolutely nothing for the pain and suffering! I was fuming!
