  1. Doesnโ€™t say these are going to Ukraine. They could be stockpiling them to protect NATO countries.

  2. Cool. Hopefully it frees up materiel for Ukraine. Regardless, Europe clearly needs to build their defense capabilities so it’s good either way.

This war has been an excellent showing of how good US weapons tech is. Holy fuck that alone has made the investment worth it. Don’t get me wrong, saving a democratic state is the important bit, but when people cry about the cost, first off, a lot of the weapons were being decommissioned anyways, second, most of the “money” that “we spent” is going right back into our (the US) economy.

  3. Lavrov at the fair “Kinjals we have, cheap daggers have, who wants to buy? cheap cheap my friend, buy one get one free! Noone?! “

  4. I’m afraid that this is for European Sky Shield Initiative, and not for Ukraine. This orders will also probably be delivered in 2+ years, given the current limited capacities of the production lines.

  5. They cost 1.1 Billion each. That’s literally a trillion dollar deal

  6. The important point here is they are going to set up manufacturing plant for Patriot in the EU (Germany). And this order is on top of another from Germany a few weeks ago, which I am suspecting may also be partially manufactured here. Likely we will see more orders now that the initiative to build an EU based plant is confirmed.

The question in my mind is how much of the components will be manufactured at the plant or will it be mainly an assembly facility. If the latter it will not take nearly as long to set up.
