This is, on an electoral basis, the right approach for Scottish Labour. I know in Welsh Labour we have a few people who’re pro-Independence, but the Independence movement here is a joke, to the point Welsh Independence is like a little sandcastle compared to the Eifel Tower, which in this case would be Scottish Independence.
Hardly anybody knows about Plaid in England etc, so to an extent it doesn’t hurt us. But in Scotland it’s vital, gotta get those unionist voters over.
Following Starmer’s lead in Scotland won’t get you very far, no one gives a shit about him
