  1. This war is the best thing that’s ever happened to the American weapons manufacturers.

  2. Time to teach Russia in their own language. Good luck NATO

  3. I think creating the ability to manufacture Patriot missiles in Europe is very important. An underlying theme here may be a concern about America sustaining its relationships particularly were the Republicans to win the Presidency in the forthcoming election.

  4. The important part is that they’re building a factory in Europe to make them.

  5. How many missiles would you need to defend yourself long term though?

Like Russia launches 100 something a day , you need maybe like 300 patriots to defend yourself? Just thinking you would launch atleast 3 missiles against 1 missile?

  6. Seems to me like the real threat is swarms of thousands upon thousands of cheap suicide drones. Patriot doesn’t scale for that.

  7. 1000 missiles are less then a week of war, is this is supposed to be impressive, split it to the nato border and it’s a joke. Every single country needs to be able to put out 1000 missiles per year, every single country.

  8. whatever the outcome, the defense industry must be doing good

  9. Patriot is a stop gap at best.

The future is Laser anti air weapons

  10. You need at least 10,000. You could use them in one day. Come on.

  11. Well better late than never.

    Let’s get to producing!

  12. I’m sure NATO is reading all of these comments and adjusting accordingly to what IAMAPINKHAIREDSLOTH has suggested.

  13. Just 1000? I would be buying several thousand and donating half to junking Russian assets in Ukraine.

  14. This is a laughably small amount of patriot missiles. Should be 100’s of thousands.

  15. You have to admit it folks, Putins dreams of seeing a united Europe is coming true!…. Just without him running the show! Seriously though, his dream to have the continent united under the Russian flag has backfired so hard since Ukraine didn’t fold over.

  16. Russia is fighting US imperialism by leading the European countries to buy more things and be more dependent from the US …. 1000IQ move

  17. Is this 1000 missiles or systems? I assume missiles but the article isn’t clear. 1000 sytems would be nuts.

  18. I believe (hope)they mean 1000 systems right not just missiles

  19. I f Russia defeats Ukraine, they will need 100x more patriot missiles.

why not FULLY support ukraine now and sleep peacefully later??

  20. People who are commenting that this is not enough to ‘stop Russia’: Please keep in mind that NATO would under no circumstances allow Russian missile launches with the same frequency as seen in Ukraine.

Like, those planes and launch sites would be absolutely decimated in pre-emptive Tomahawk strikes. We have already seen how worthless Russian AD systems like the S-300 in the face of actual countermeasures.

  21. Folks are claiming 1000 more is low but honestly how many high end launch platforms do folks really think Russia will have after day 7?

You really think they’ll still be yeeting 100 missiles a day after a few days of SEAD/DEAD and then the hammering their airfields will take and while F-15s go on scud hunts looking for anything resembling a mobile launcher while F-22s and F-35 kill anything flying deep inside Russian territory?

Seriously, if the Russians are dumb enough to attack NATO it’s over in weeks. They’ve already seen attrition of their air defense and air force in Ukraine as well as Storm Shadows hitting targets defended by S300/S400.

  22. Trump was complaining Europeans didn’t spend enough on arms, now they do..

  23. Lots of people commenting don’t realize some basic facts:

    1. The factory will be in Europe.
    2. Patriots are just one part of a layered air defense, and are not intended to be the sole system countering threats ranging from small drones to hypersonic missiles.
    3. The large modern air forces of NATO countries mean that Russia cannot “spam” ground and air launched missiles / drones in a war again NATO (aka their tactic against Ukraine won’t work against NATO). NATO’s air forces would likely control the skies relatively quickly and create significant stand-off distance that negatively impacts Russia’s ability to launch short/medium range missiles/drones.

The war in Ukraine is teaching NATO a lot of valuable lessons, but people seem to forget that NATO has way more military resources than Ukraine, and they span all spectrums of warfare. Russia’s tactics against Ukraine won’t work against NATO.

  24. “1,000 Patriot missiles in face of Russia” Reading headlines and being dyslictik, helps.

  25. USA is making mooooooooney while Russia is collapsing.

    Excellent

  26. That’s….that’s not enough missiles, Bob.

  27. And we got people in the US saying things like, “why are we giving Ukraine all of our money, we could be using it here”.

Well there you go, our small investment is pumping money back into our economy by weapons sales. The added quota means more shifts and workers

  28. When in the last couple decades has Russia had a significant attack on a NATO state?

  29. 1000 missiles is barely enough for NATO to kill an Afghani goatherder.

  30. It’s funny to me that with as much as Russia hates NATO, the more waves they make, the stronger argument they make for NATO to exist. lol
